Training the Subconscious Mind to Attract Wealth by Gregory Frost

Wealth is all about success, but not many of us have the kind of luck necessary to be born extremely rich or come across millions by chance. Most of us have to work to that goal, weed out opportunities, make the right friends and find that X factor. The adage ‘work smart’ has more use in the day and age where technology is the third arm of everyone, we can’t live without it and if we use it wisely, we just might make a tidy sum. But what is holding us back? Drive, ambition, purpose, creativity - life gives them out in measured doses, and sometimes not when we want them as well. We have to produce them ourselves, from the factory that is our brain. How? Well read on as this article deals with training the subconscious mind to attract wealth.

The subconscious mind is the most underutilised and mysterious aspect of the human mind. We don’t think much about it and most of us don’t know how it works. It takes instruction from the brain’s conscious mind’s interpretation drawn from the five senses. What we see, hear, do, act and experience translates into electric pulses of information that determine how we react to situations, our overall mental state, our behaviours and our attitudes. It is the general that commands us in our waking and sleeping state and most of us have no control over it.

What we need to do is to train our subconscious to listen to us. We need to achieve a state when it is accessible and in a perfect state for reprogramming. The new code that we insert into it will then be cascaded down into the rest of all our body’s emotional and physical functions. And voila! We have with us a new man or woman, ready to take on the world with new found vigour, ambition and happiness - and even supercharged intelligence.

How is it done? Succinctly put, the brain produces electromagnetic waves, fired by neurons deep in the cerebrum that instruments can measure as frequencies. Certain frequencies and certain ranges have been linked with states of acute learning, acute relaxation, sharpened mental focus and one that even allows us to enter a meditative state and reprogramme our mind. Now we can’t call on these frequencies at will, but science has found several ways that we can. A music file programmed with engineered sound called binaural beats trigger a cortical response in the brain to emit specific frequencies. Biofeedback and autogenics are similar methods that achieve the same results. Equipment that imbues magnetic fields over the cortex is able to relax and relinquish control of the subconscious back to us. Even different forms of yoga can achieve some of these results.

As you can see, there are many ways for us to train the subconscious attract wealth. If we can just reboot and refresh ourselves, gain higher states of intelligence and creativity, extreme ambition and a drive for success, we can attain our goals that much easier and better confidence will naturally be a magnet for wealth potential. The possibilities are endless.

Do you know what you really want? Whenever I ask this question to someone, the reply is incorrect most of the time. What I have realized is, they don’t say “what they want”, but they say “what they think they want”. The most common reply I have heard is “I want to make a lot of money”. But when I ask them how much they want to make, they are never able to quantify the amount. This is precisely why they never end up achieving their goal – because they themselves don’t know what it really is! If you really want to succeed in achieving your goal, you need to know what you “really want”.

At one time I was so fed up of this reply, I decided to push the discussion and see where it goes. So when one Mr X replied that he wanted to make a lot of money, I asked him how much, but he didn’t know. So I asked him what he wanted to do with the money. Turns out, he wanted to buy a 2008 Ferrari F430 Coupe, so that he can show it off to his friends and make heads turn when he’d drive around town! So I asked him if his goal was to probably earn about $200k (the approximate cost of the Ferrari) and he agreed with me. I then went on to ask him if he has considered the maintenance costs, insurance costs and fuel costs. He hadn’t thought of that and he added a few grand to his goal. I then asked him if he has considered having some cool accessories for such a nice car, and he hadn’t! So he again marked up his goal. I then decided to let him work on it himself, so I told him to think and make a list of any other costs associated with the car that he could envisage. He thought for about 15 minutes but couldn’t come up with anything.

I then told him that there were 2 very important things he was not considering. The first was the life style cost. What is a life style cost? He had never heard of this before, so I went on to explain him with an example – let’s say you’re driving around town in your spanking new Ferrari and you’re feeling hungry. So will you turn into a McDonald’s for a burger, or will you consider a luxurious one where the rich and famous hangout? After all, you’re driving a Ferrari, right? You can’t be cheap! I went on to explain him that his attire must also include brands like Prada, Berluti, Brioni, Giorgio Armani, Rolex, etc.

I then asked him if he has considered the taxes he would be paying first, before he could spend the money. Boy, was he shocked! He needed to reverse calculate the amount after taxes, so he had to add the tax amount to arrive at his goal! He finally decided to reconsider his goal.

This little example will help you when you decide to make goals. But before you start off on your goal setting spree, do consider the S-M-A-R-T principle.

SMART means: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time Bound.

Specific: Your goal should state the expected outcome very clearly. Try to be as specific as you can about your goal, like how much, for whom, etc.

Measurable: Your goal should be measurable, else how will you know when you’ve reached it? It could be on a scale (like 1 to 10), percentage, etc.

Achievable: When creating your goals, make sure that they’re achievable. It’s good to aim high but don’t push it to an unachievable point. Consider your current situation, resources and time availability.

Realistic: You need to face some facts – it will not be easy to overtake your competitors who have bigger and better resources at their disposal. Concentrate on reducing the gap, step by step.

Time Bound: A goal doesn’t hold value unless it isn’t time bound. Have an end date for each of your goals.

You should certainly consider all 5 of these principles, to increase your chances in achieving your goal. If the goal is materialistic, make a list of all the things that you want, with the cost to acquire it. Then simply add it all up and you will know that your goal is to make an x amount of money.

Closing Tips: At any given time, do not try to achieve too many goals. Three or four should be enough so that you can give focused attention. Don’t go beyond six or seven. Also remember to categorize your goals into short term, medium term and long term.

If you are like most people who are working on building a MLM business, you have read books on goal setting, written down your goals and listened to company training calls on how to set goals. However, you have most likely become frustrated because you have failed to achieve one or more of your goals for your business.

Why has this happened? You have phrased your goals in positive I am statements, made your goals specific and to the point, given each goal a deadline, written them down on cards and carried them around with you and read them out loud at least once a day. In short, it seems you have done everything possible including everything you were told to do in order to make your goals a reality.

While there are several possible reasons, I would like to examine the two main probable causes and what you can do as a successful and hard working MLM business owner to increase the percentage of your goals that you actually achieve.

First, one of your main goals in relation to your MLM Business probably has something to do with recruiting new team partners. You have in all likelihood set a goal to add a certain number of new people to your downline in a given amount of time. You have then purchased leads, marketed online, ran ads, talked with everyone you know, held parties, attended shows, joined networking groups, and in short completed a whole list of actions necessary in order to accomplish your goal of sponsoring a given number of new team members. In addition, you have practiced speaking with people on the phone and set up the most efficient system possible to follow up with your prospective team members.

Nothing is lacking in your action steps.

However, the end of the month arrives and you have failed to sponsor the number of given people thus you did not reach your goal. You look back over everything you did during the given month and you simply cannot figure out why your goal was not realized. You have however, missed one important thing, the freedom of those with whom you come in contact to choose either to join you now, to join you later or not to join you at all. Because of this crucial timing factor it is likely probable that even if you are solidly founded in your MLM business and you have done everything you could in the best way possible you will still not reach your sponsoring goal every month and there is not anything you can do to change this.

So is it still a good idea, to set a monthly number goal when it comes to sponsoring new team partners? It depends. If you are the type of person who is motivated by numbers and can handle the disappointment of your failure to reach your exact goal, while at the same time knowing that you will eventually reach your goals regardless of how many people join you, then it may make sense for you to set a number goal. For the majority of MLM business builders though, it is advisable to set instead a goal for the number of people with whom you will speak and present your business. This is a number you can control and makes a more realistic goal.

The second reason we often fail to reach our goals has to do with our attitude and mind set. It is very easy to go through the motions as if we have a positive mindset without actually having one. When setting your goals it is crucial to not only be realistic but to also make certain that you really believe you can reach the given goal during the time period you have stated.

When you first join a MLM business chances are that you will not have the mindset or the awareness of how your thoughts and intentions influence your ability to achieve a goal. So while yes you do need to speak with a certain number of people in order to achieve your sponsoring goals, having the positive mindset and the expectation that a certain percentage will join you is a must. There are many books, tapes and other self development resources which can assist you with changing your mindset. Taking the time and spending the money needed to accomplish this is crucial. Have the right mindset when you create your goals and as long as your goals are realistic you will achieve success. The world will give back to you what you send out into the world. Expect your goals to realize and they will.

Live Your Life Purpose: Soul Inspired Goal Setting For 2009 – ABC Action Guide by Annika Ek

A. Where Are You Now?

Let’s get started by taking a good look at your life the way it is today. Do this exercise by filling out filling out your Life Wheel. Draw a circle on a blank piece of paper, divide it into the following 8 sections; 1.Career/Business 2.Finances 3.Health & Self Care 4.Intimacy/Significant Other 5.Social, Fun & Recreation 6.Personal/Spiritual Growth 7.Family, Friends & Community 8.Physical Environment.

Complete all the categories listed in the wheel by using words to describe your current experience and by ranking your level of satisfaction. Rank your satisfaction on a scale from 1 -10, with 1 being poor or almost non-existent and 10 is very good.

B. Get Inner Guidance

To create a life that you love is about filling it with doings, people, things and experiences that reflect your essence and what you are in harmony with. To choose well you need to know yourself well. Self discovery is a journey that is always ongoing, and it is helpful to use several different ways to learn about you.

In this article I am sharing some of my favorite tools to help you get to know who you are truly. This knowing will allow you to plant the seeds that will grow into a life of greater meaning, success and fulfillment…

1. Journaling

Even if you think you have nothing to write, sit down with pen and paper and see what comes out. Relax your mind and begin to write your dreams, remember that you are only writing for your eyes so there are no worries about other’s judgment, possible resentment and you already have all the skills, empowerment and money you need to dream big!

According to Universal Law, if you can think it you also have the capacities to manifest it. In other words, you are only able to tap into the inspiring ideas from the “universal vault of unending possibilities” that you can accomplish. Consider this statement seriously and keep writing down your dreams and visions on a regular basis. The consistency of this activity allows you to fine tune where your inspired heart is pulling you.

Another approach to journaling that is especially useful if you feel stuck is to ask your “higher self” questions in Q&A format. Here is an example. On a blank page in your journal, write “Q:” followed by your question, if you don’t even know what to ask, you can ask “what question do I need to ask to connect with my true desire?” On the next row write “A:” and wait for the answer to come to you, be in a relaxed state and don’t force. At times the answer may come almost instantly, at other times you may have to wait days or weeks… What is important here is to not give up; you will get your answer when you are ready for it…

2. Slow Down and Listen to Your Inner Voice

Most of us are too busy with day-to-day stuff to hear the message from our faint inner voices. This is important to get authentic direction in your life, and no one else can do this for you, only you can hear your inner voice.

Begin by making the decision to spend time with you. Give yourself a quiet space in your home, in nature or where you find peace. Be sure to minimize sensory stimulation, which means being away from bright lights, loud noise and other distractions. Since there is no off button on your mind, make it quiet by bringing your awareness to the rhythm of your breath, take deep, slow breaths and just be in the present moment. Release thoughts pulling you back to your past, they are not who you are. Release all thoughts pulling you towards the future, since they are not who you are. Just be in the moment and connect to the power that is always there for you but only when you unlock it by being totally present.

In this relaxed and intensely present state, allow yourself to step out of time and space and reach out to the formless universe that is always surrounding you. When you inner voice whispers or speaks to you, listen attentively and bring its wisdom with you as you re-enter your daily life and the world of form.

Have a date with yourself on a regular basis, and you will discover that it becomes easier to hear your inner voice whisper guidance for each step of your journey.

3. Get a Hand Analysis Life Purpose Reading and Learn Your Unique Success Map

What may take you years to discover on your own, you will learn in just one hour when you invest in yourself and get a Hand Analysis Life Purpose Reading… This may sound too good to be true, but your hands are actually a map of your soul psychology and personality. Your fingerprints reveal your soul’s calling or if you prefer your Life Purpose.

The fingerprints also bring your Life Lesson out of the dark. Your Life Lesson is your blind spot where you tend to get stuck and hold back. Learning your life lesson, and how to “work it” so it doesn’t keep you stuck, is fundamental to your future success. You may be able to figure out your Life Purpose on your own, but I have never met anyone who has uncovered their life lessons themselves (it is called your blind spot for a reason…)

Your hands also reveal your Personality, Temperament and potential Gift Markings. Gift Markings are present in around 30% of the population and are explosions of energy you need an outlet for in your life, or they will go into penalty mode which is no fun… In other words, the information in your hands reveals your unique energies that will always be at work in your life. By knowing what they are you can make conscious decisions to make them work for you, instead of against you.

C. Use Your Personal Insights as You Plan Your Year

After strengthening your communication within yourself, and hopefully also having a Life Purpose Reading, return to the Life Wheel, but this time write down specific goals that you would like to achieve in each area of your life by the end of 2009. Be sure to allow your insights gained from your improved internal communication, and from learning your unique Life Purpose & Lesson, to influence the goals you set in all categories of your Life Wheel.

Draw several copies of the Life Wheel and write specific goals for each spoke of your “Life Wheel”. Begin with a 1 year goal, and continue by breaking the goals down into more manageable pieces. Write a version for where you want to be in 6 months, in 3 months, in 1 month and use the “Life Wheel” to write down your weekly action steps. And don’t forget to get the satisfaction of checking them off as you accomplish your goals…) Good luck and don’t forget that all success is had one baby step at a time!

As 2008 draws to a close, some of you are already looking ahead to what you want to do in 2009. It’s the time of year we begin to self-reflect and adjust our course for the upcoming year.

In my work coaching people, I find it interesting that many of my clients set very clear intentions for what they want to accomplish. They are passionate about it. They put in the required work for a period of time. And then something happens. Self-sabotage.

Does this sound familiar? Have you ever vowed to lose 10 pounds, speak nicer to your children, stop smoking, save money, pay off credit card debt, or maybe make a weekly date with your life partner? You mean it. You want to do it. You actually do it. And then you slack off?

Do you know why? There is actually evidence in neuroscience that explains why we drift back into old behaviors. Our brain actually wires itself to perform repetitive tasks without conscious effort. If you do something in the same sequence enough times, the neurons that are required to perform this task will automatically fire together in the familiar sequence whenever you are confronted with a similar situation and you aren’t vigilantly aware of what your mind subconsciously is programmed to do.

If you are accustomed to eating potato chips whenever you feel stress, then when you aren’t paying attention, at the first sign of stress, you may find yourself halfway through a bag of Ruffles before you even realize you’re eating.

Our brain is invested in maintaining the status quo. You weigh a certain amount. You aspire to a certain degree of happiness. You make a particular amount of money. Scientists have come to understand that our brains have particular set points, much like the thermostat in your home regulates the heat. Therefore, your brain, your subconscious, can work against you in accomplishing the conscious goals you set.

How is it some people are successful in pushing past their set points? There are several ways to do it. One is to maintain a constant vigil of consciousness to your every move. This is extremely exhausting but it can be done with great determination. Other ways include hypnosis or various energy psychology techniques, such as EMDR or EFT.

Another way is to bring whatever is subconsciously sabotaging you out into the light where you can consciously deal with it. In my work with coaching clients, I have found this to be a very effective question at getting to the root of the unconscious sabotage. Ask your client, “What would you have to give up to get what you want”? I’m not talking about the obvious, e.g. in order to lose weight, a person would have to give up chocolate and free time to exercise. I’m talking about really digging deep.

I asked a woman once what she would have to give up to lose the weight she wants and she looks at me dumbfounded and said, “My husband.” Upon further exploration, she subconsciously believed that if she got healthy enough emotionally to lose the weight she carried, then she would move beyond where her husband was and they would no longer be compatible.

Another woman I was working with was having difficulty breaking through her income barrier. She had her own business and just couldn’t move past the $50,000 mark. When I asked her what she would have to give up to be the successful business woman she truly wanted to be, she said she would lose her father’s love and approval. Her subconscious belief was that her father would love and approve of her as long as she wasn’t any more successful than he had been.

A final example was a man I was working with to develop his own coaching business. He had the skills, abilities and resources but just wasn’t making progress. When I asked him the question, what would he have to give up to leave his job and go out on his own, his answer was his dream. He was worried that if his dream wasn’t successful, then he would have nothing left. Better to have the dream intact than fail at the one thing he truly wanted.

So, this year, ask yourself this tough question. When you get the deepest answer you can find, examine it closely in the light of day. Is it valid? Is it important? Is it worth sacrificing your goal for? Only you can answer these questions but you’ll never even get to these questions unless you do some digging and get to that subconscious sabotage that often lurks in the background waiting to derail your forward progress. Don’t let it happen again this year. Take control and make conscious, intentional decisions.
