Making Your Personal Development Goals - 4 Cornerstones to Keeping it Simple

Making Your Personal Development Goals - 4 Cornerstones to Keeping it Simple
By Joyce Lee

Here are a few observations I have made about women and change.

•Most Women are trying to improve themselves in some way.
•Many are overwhelmed by the information ‘out there’ and tend to over complicate the process.
•Or, she gets frustrated and stays stuck in the state of not feeling good about themselves.

And that’s a shame.

Most embark on restrictive and complicated programs, often taking several big changes on at the same time and hoping for the best. It rarely works.

The good news is that if you are willing to slow down and adopt the right mindset, you can not only avoid ‘failing again’, but you can change anything you want.

Here are 3 keys that most women are missing which will give you comfort and help you develop the mindset necessary to lasting positive change.

1. Get your balance with a few changes at a time. Quitting smoking, going on a restrictive diet and vowing to go to the gym 7 days a week is not a good idea. Your chance of success is limited.

A professional juggler doesn’t walk on stage and start juggling 20 items at once.

She knows to begin with a couple of items, finding her rhythm, getting her balance, then she adds another item. She finds her rhythm and balance before adding more.

If you apply this concept to your personal development plans, finding your rhythm and balance with your changes. Make it logical, allow yourself to settle into your changes before adding more.

2. Make sure the Mission Statement of your change is about improving the quality of your life not about forcing a change because you think you are unacceptable as you are.

There is a vast difference between the language of self-love and acceptance and the language of unacceptability and enforced change born of criticism.

Adopt a clear intention that any changes you strive for will come because you love yourself, and want the very best in your life. You want self-confidence, optimum health, great relationships etc.

Make sure the energy behind the change is positive and progressive rather than negative and restrictive.

3. Keep your head in the game by living your change. Keep your lifestyle at the front of your awareness especially in the beginning.

Most programs fail because for a variety of reasons, the woman lets her attention drift away.

If you really want to succeed at your chosen lifestyle change, it is imperative that you keep your attention on what you want.

I see so many women start out strong and then bit by bit, drift away and resume the ‘old way’ , adding another perceived failure to their personal resume. How sad.

4. Finally…. You are NEVER a failure. There is NOTHING wrong with you. You are a work of art… in process. Growing and learning along the way.

No matter how many times you slip and fall, start again.

Change is a process. It is rare to succeed at a life change the first time out.

Celebrate your willingness to keep trying. Each time you will bring greater commitment and understanding to your program.

You can do, have or be anything you want. You can change anything you want. Just do it from a place of loving yourself and wanting the best quality of life.

Namaste.

Wishing you Peace & Abundance…

Good Goals to Follow For a Fulfilling Life

Good Goals to Follow For a Fulfilling Life
By Todd Hicks

Would you like to lead a life that is complete and fulfilling? Do you want to live the rest of your life with few regrets, knowing you are doing the best you can to make something of your life? You can get a good idea of how to accomplish these goals by incorporating the goals I have set for myself. I will now discuss these goals.

Travel the world. Great attractions and beautiful sights can be found around the world; furthermore, you can learn different cultures by visiting various countries. A place I definitely must visit someday is the Egyptian pyramids.

Maintain peace of mind. I do this by apologizing to others for something I have done to them, not hating or holding grudges against anyone and not getting mad over little things.

Stay healthy and fit. You can do this by taking a brisk walk that lasts at least thirty minutes every day and eating a diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, cheese, milk and fish.

Write thousands of articles. I intend to eventually make a lot of money and educate thousands around the world writing articles that discuss something I know.

Find a good job. You should look for a job that pays well, matches skills you have developed and provides an atmosphere where management treats employees well.

Watch all the good movies. My intent is to see each good movie I miss at the theaters on a tape.

Reach your full potential. Do not settle for living a life that falls short of you not doing the best you can at everything you engage in.

Always stay out of trouble. Obey all the laws and rules everywhere you go, think before you do or say anything and read the news to learn others’ mistakes. Never being locked up is a big measure concerning whether you are doing something with your life.

Save millions. If you have to, make financial sacrifices so you can save at least ten percent of what you earn for a few decades to have a shot at retiring with enough money to live comfortably and take all the expensive vacations you desire.

Become an organ donor and charity donor. I have signed the back of my state ID indicating my desire to donate an organ upon my death and I want to donate money to food banks and charities that help the poor.

Follow these goals and ideas to live the ultimate life!

A Worthy Goal - Part 1 - Cutting the Crap

A Worthy Goal - Part 1 - Cutting the Crap
By David McKee

The Achieve Master Series: Getting There…

Earl Nightingale said that “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal.” Because he was instrumental in the realization of my success through the many books and tapes he produced (and that my successful father encouraged me to read and listen to), I wanted to dedicate this first of the Achieve Master series of articles.

Most of us have at least a fuzzy idea of what success is and if we are of that precious few who have made the attempt to make this idea more concrete in our thinking, we may be sure we know what success is. But what does it take to be a Master of Achievement?

First let’s clear the air a bit.

There are so many books, tapes, methods, philosophies, techniques, etc. on success and self-improvement that the mind is quickly boggled. A quick visit to a library or bookstore will verify this fact. Much of the current crops of titles combine a panoply of various new-age gobbledygook with just a sprinkling of actual common sense. Add to this a massive marketing budget and you have another best seller destined to be sold in a few years at the bargain basement used book-store. I should know… I have a ton of this stuff on my own bookshelves.

Let’s dig through some of this stuff, past the yellowed, dog-eared tomes of the past few years until we find some of the first ideas that actual successful individuals used to achieve awesome levels of success, the kind of achievement that you want for yourself.

Let’s begin with the statement that is also the title of this article:

“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal.”

Look at the last 3 words: “a worthy goal”. What makes a goal “worthy”? What does that even mean?

Let’s start by cutting the crap that most guru based new-age self improvement types dish out… None of this “Worthy goals are different for different people…blah blah blah.”

Obviously different people want different things, but some of those things are not worthy. And sometimes the things people say they want are not what their actions show they really do want.

People get what they actually want.
That is a basic principle. There is nothing “mystical” there, nothing magical (unless you did not realize that this was actually the case!). People get and have the things they truly in their heart focus on.

Now some will argue this pointing to those who are in horrible situations like Hurricane Katrina or who live in some horridly oppressive third world. However there are success stories even in those situations. I do not mean to imply that the external situation you find yourself in is under your control-it’s not, but your attitude about what you will do, and what you will focus on, always is.

Some who lived through Katrina have thrived despite perhaps losing everything, and some in oppressive third world countries escape those situations, many times to come to America and in a few years become wealthy themselves! They had a burning desire for a worthy goal, and let nothing stand in the way of achieving it.

But others who were born here in The United State of America (or other free democratic countries), who are able bodied and fit, will whine and complain that they can’t be successful, that their circumstances don’t allow for them to achieve anything, that they need help from those who do produce, their “need” being the blank check against those who have actually achieved something. These people are also getting what they truly, ultimately desire…

Abject failure.

That is what they truly want, that is what they focus on - and their subconscious mind, their projected intent goes out into the universe. And the universe returns to them what they actually asked for, it can do nothing else.

(and of course there are so many politicians in government just waiting to softly massage them and tell them that they are right in thinking this way, and hand them a government check that was cashed against actual achievers output.)

So let’s review: A worthy goal is any goal that you have that will raise your personal worth to yourself, to your family, to those around you (neighbors and community), and to posterity. It can be small or big, but to be worthy, it must first true, it must uplift, and it must be good - it must be something you know deep in your heart lifts those around you as it lifts you.

It must be True: - If your goal states or implies falsehood, it is not worthy. Notice the welfare bums in the previous example who complained that their experiences or circumstances were not ideal for them to be successful. The truth is nobody has it perfect, if they did there would be no challenge and nobody would be uplifted by achievement.

It must Uplift: If your goal leaves you where you are at currently, or pushes you or others down into the gutter, it is not a worthy goal. (”I want to be known as the greatest bank robber ever!”) That has been the unworthy goal of some actual bank robbers, but it did not uplift, it was therefore not worthy. (”I want to create a fast food restaurant that provides high quality fresh, hot food, fast, excellent service, and a wonderful customer experience.”) That was the worthy goal of Wendy’s creator Dave Thomas. Compare the two and you will quickly understand worthiness in a goal.

It must be Good: Notice how a worthy goal’s three points flow into each other. Goodness is simple. Does it help or does it hurt? Does it inspire others or does it confuse and cause fear in others. Does it create a wave of enthusiasm? Good goals build up and cause a spin-off of more good goals.

So that wraps things up for this part of the Achieve Master Series. Remember, you always get what you really want. The trick? Knowing what you truly want and making sure that it is worthy of you.

Please be sure to read my next article about how we progress in our destination towards our goals.

I am developing a software system to help with this process of achievement called “Achieve-Master”. Would you be interested in being a Beta Tester of this software? I have 15 slots available as of the posting of this article. Be sure to check out my site http://www.achievemaster.com and look for the link to sign up.

Personal Goal Setting Guide to Protecting Your Future Success

Personal Goal Setting Guide to Protecting Your Future Success
By Shahzad Hanif

Many people say that if you do not have a goal that you want to achieve, you would never get to experience success. This is true especially if you are the kind of person who is still oblivious of the direction that you want to take. Personal goal setting allows you to have that laser sharp focus so that you will be on your way to success. This would set as your inspiration to do and strive better in everything that you do. The reason you keep hearing about it is because it really is important to your life. A good definition of goals is that they are dreams with deadlines. And the great thing about goal-setting is you can keep it as simple or get as elaborate as you would like.

One simple goal setting activity that even a child can do is to ask yourself these three questions.
To achieve this personal goal:

* What do I need to start doing?
* What do I need to stop doing?
* What do I need to do more of?

This can take away the fear some people have of the more detailed and complicated long-term goal setting systems such as the famous S.M.A.R.T. system; which means using only Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-sensitive definitions in your personal goal setting activity.

But however you go about it, goal planning is essential if you want to succeed. This would help you choose where you really want to go, and what the things are that you really want to do. By defining the specific tasks that you must do, you will get to know where you should spend all your efforts. Aside from that you will also determine what the most likely distractions are that may drive you further away from your goal setting activity.

It has been said that achieving goals is not a problem - it is SETTING the goals that is the problem. People just do not do it. They leave their lives to chance … and usually end up broke by the time they reach retirement.

Humans have the remarkable ability to get exactly what they must have. But there is a difference between a “must” and a “want.” To quote the Dalai Lama “The purpose of life is to be happy”. However, there are several mistakes beginners can make in their first goal setting activity that can affect their ability to achieve their goals. One of which is creating tons of long term goals, all at the same time. As a result, they no longer have enough focus to reach and fulfill a particular goal. That is why it is advisable that you would limit your first attempts to only a goal or two so that you can give your full focus and effort, allowing you to achieve the goal completely before planning another goal to fulfill.

Here is a starting point to begin considering your personal goal setting. Plan to set aside some quiet time, with no interruptions, make yourself a cup of your favourite beverage, sit down with a pen and paper and start writing your thoughts down about things like :

* In my lifetime, the most important things I have already accomplished include:
* If I looked back on my lifetime in 20 years time, I would like to have accomplished:
* Within 10 years, I would like to achieve:
* Within 5 years, I would like to have achieved:
* In the next six months to a year, these are the things I am going to do to work towards by goals:
* Regardless of your family commitments or your personal relationships, and regardless of your business enterprises or any false sense of achievement, what do you REALLY want?

Give yourself credit for your past accomplishments, and give yourself credit for your future achievements. You can and will attain all your goals, both long-term and short-term if you approach them in a step-by-step fashion and if you believe that they are truly worthwhile for you.

Aside from that, goal planning may also help you to become more motivated. Eventually, you will get into the whole habit of creating long term goals and planning on how you can successfully achieve each and every goal that you have. Moreover, it would also allow you to build your self confidence sooner than you expected

Need help following through with your goals?

Whether you want to prepare to re-invent yourself or just focus on improvement in one specific area of your life, you need a complete solution based on solid fundamentals and instructions from the very wisest.

To help you plan and to help you prepare your personal goal setting plan, Helene Malmsio has collected dozens of excellent self help Goal Setting articles and free self help ebook downloads to help you create a life plan for yourself this year. This resource is available for anyone for anyone who wants to do something remarkable with their lives.

One of her tips is that although you do need to be considerate of your environment and of all the people in it, you must first consider yourself. Your well-being, your happiness, your success. If you do not get in touch with your inner needs and passions in your life, you will be unlikely to achieve your goals if they are focused on meeting the needs of other people before your own needs. As they say, you must make yourself happy first, before you are in a position to help anyone else become happy.

What is keeping you from living the life you have been dreaming about? Make a pact with yourself right now that you will achieve your goals. And make them realistic to reach. Then one by one, make your own life the success it deserves.

A Simple Way to Start Living Your New Career Today - Quotes and Coaching Questions to Motivate You

A Simple Way to Start Living Your New Career Today - Quotes and Coaching Questions to Motivate You
By Leanna Fredrich

Quotes:

“Nothing changes until you do.” Unknown

“Success follows doing what you want to do. There is no other way to be successful.” Malcolm S. Forbes

“You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.” James Allen

You know what career you are interested in. Perhaps you have a business idea that lights you up or a book begging to be written or maybe an adventurous trip you are longing to embark on. Whatever dream you are holding onto, begin today to step into the identity and belief that you are ready and GOING to reach this goal. Often the most powerful way to begin is to act and dress as if you have already reached your goal.

For example if you wish to create a best selling novel and spend your days engrossed in writing then get up a little earlier or stay up later and devote your time to writing. Put on the cozy robe you plan on wearing as an author. Wear those fuzzy slippers and grab your favorite cup of tea. BE an author for a space of time each day! It is not important if you write a lot or little. What IS important is that you are stepping into the identity which will help you reach your goal. As you put on your “author outfit ” and spend time writing your book you are giving messages to the subconscious mind and letting it know that this is who I am. I am an author! Your subconscious which is very accommodating will begin to support you in your goal and help you see opportunities to get there faster. Not to mention that it will help you stay motivated on those cold, dark winter mornings.

Another way to begin living your goal is to find other people who have already done what you want to. Join the groups and associations they belong to. Go to the meetings and mingle with people you aspire to be like. We are social creatures and by spending time with others who have done what we want to do it is motivating and educational. Soon it will be easy to believe that “I can do that too!”

Here are some Coaching Questions to get you started today…

1. When you reach your goal how will you be dressing? Start dressing that way as much as possible now!

2. What associations or networking groups will you be in when you reach your goal? Join them now.

3. Who could you talk with who has already reached your goal? Ask them how they did it.

4. Will you talk any different after you have reached your goal? Have those conversations now.
